Projected increases in domestic and international freight require a strong rail infrastructure with increased port capacity to serve the needs of the nation’s markets and consumers.

The National Gateway will help increase traffic at our nation’s ports and stimulate economic activity in America’s port cities. By better connecting East Coast seaports to consumers and manufacturing centers in the Midwestern United States, the National Gateway will help finished goods get to consumers with fewer delays and raw materials get to manufacturing centers more quickly.
